Local author Dr. Suchitra Samanta will read ‘The Witch’, a short story from her anthology of translations from Bengali. After the story, she will lead a discussion about a different cultural concept of a witch as an old, poor, and socially marginalized woman who is believed to do harm. Dr. Samanta is the author of several books including ‘Kali in Bengali Lives’ and ‘Sanctuary Stories of Kolkata’.
