Festive and FUN Holiday Party Ideas

‘Tis the season to be jolly!  And nothing makes you feel jollier than a festive holiday party! Hosting guests at your home for a party during the holidays becomes all the more fun when you add a theme to it. Bringing people together to celebrate the season with joy and laughter is a sure way to create feelings of warmth and cheer that make this time of year so special.

Check out these ideas for festive and fun holiday parties:

HAWAIIAN HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Aloha! If you’re not a fan of cold weather and snowy, white Christmases, then a party with a tropical vibe is perfect for you! Turn up the heat and invite guests to wear Hawaiian themed outfits for a Christmas Luau. Greet them at the door with a Hawaiian Lei and serve Hawaiian Luau Food like roast pork, rice, and pineapple. Have a melodic Hawaiian Christmas Playlist on in the background and to make things extra fun, have a hula contest! Mele Kalikimaka!

CHRISTMAS SCAVENGER HUNT

This is a perfect option if you would like to get together with friends and family, but don’t have the space to host them all in your home. Plan a Christmas themed scavenger hunt that takes you and your guests all through your town to solve challenges and find treasures. This is an activity that is family friendly and fun for all ages! HOLIDAY CARD PARTY

I don’t know about you, but it seems I get fewer and fewer Christmas cards each year. Since so many people keep in touch via social media now, sending cards seems to have gone by the wayside. But there are groups of people who would probably be so touched and happy to receive some Christmas cheer in the mail. Invite your besties over and ask them to each bring a box of Christmas cards. Choose a local nursing home, rehab facility, assisted living facility or hospital to send them to and fill out the cards accordingly. Imagine the smiles you will bring to the faces of those who might not receive any other cards this Christmas. Be sure to include short messages to make the cards feel personal and special. Serve some tasty treats and have holiday music playing while you join to bring cheer to others.

CHRISTMAS PAJAMA PARTY MOVIE NIGHT

Your house feels so festive. It’s warm and cozy with twinkling holiday lights. There’s nothing better than lounging in your pjs with a mug of hot chocolate, a fuzzy blanket and a cheerful holiday movie on tv. Why not invite friends to join you! Invite them to come in their favorite pajamas for a comfy movie marathon. Set up a hot chocolate bar where they can create a warm treat and have plenty of popcorn on hand. You can even make it more fun with a game to choose which movies you will watch. Choose from one of these Christmas Movie Trivia Games, and whoever gets the most correct answers gets to choose the movie!

DIY UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER PARTY

You may already have your standby “Ugly Christmas Sweater” ready for the next party, but how about upping the game and hosting a do-it-yourself ugly Christmas sweater party? Invite your guests to bring an old sweater or sweatshirt and everyone can decorate them together. Have decorative items like pom-poms, sparkles, buttons, sequins, felt etc. available along with scissors and a couple of hot glue guns. At the end of the night have everyone don their new creations and vote for the “ugliest” (funniest) of them all!

However you decide to celebrate the season, remember to keep the focus on bringing joy to yourself and others. Happy Holidays!
