Kid-Friendly Halloween Party Ideas

Super scary Halloween parties are fun for teenagers and adults, but for younger kids, they can be a bit much. Little ones (and their parents) will appreciate a more age-appropriate Halloween party. So, if you are planning to celebrate the spooky season with a party for youngsters this year, here are some great kid-friendly ideas for you!

  1. Create Family-Friendly Invitations

Let your guests know right away that this is going to be a family/kid-friendly event by creating an invitation that is festive, but not scary. Whether you are doing paper invitations or creating them online, use cute characters and bold colors that say that your event will be fun for everyone!

  • Keep Decorations Cute and Spooky, but NOT Scary

It’s so much fun decorating for a Halloween party. If young children will be attending, stay away from decorations that include blood and gore and focus on fun stuff that will provide a festive atmosphere. For example, a jack-o’-lantern with dry ide fog as a centerpiece is a great way to provide a “WOW” factor without being too frightening. • Have Fun Food

It’s not a true Halloween Party without some fun holiday-themed food! While older kids might enjoy ghoulish treats that look like severed fingers or bloody eyeballs, little ones might be a little leery to try them. Stick with treats in cute Halloween shapes and colors. One fun idea is to have a “Cupcake Bar” where kids can decorate their own cupcakes with Halloween themed colors and treats like sprinkles and candy corn.

  • Dance Party

Spooky music and fun Halloween-themed songs will add to the fun of your party. Look for soundtracks that leave out blood-curdling screams and focus more on appropriate songs for the younger crowd.  45 Fun Halloween Songs for Kids

  • Have Fun with Halloween Party Games

Little kids love playing games, so be sure to have some fun ones for them at your party. One game that is sure to have everyone laughing is the “Toilet Paper Mummy” game. Split the kids into teams and have each team wrap one person up in toilet paper to create a mummy. The first team done with their roll of toilet paper wins! This also makes for a great photo op!
